Biography:

LGSW, NSCA-CPT

Emily comes from a background in counseling, having graduated with her masters in Social Work. She worked for four years as a grief counselor and bereavement program manager for a hospice agency and continues to work as a therapist specializing in grief.

Emily grew up playing soccer and other sports all her life until she experienced multiple knee injuries and 3 surgeries.  In her undergraduate years in order to continue being fit, she became involved in training and running 5k and 10k races. An interest and passion for running quickly turned into a broader interest in fitness and health as a method for coping with the stress of work and school and living a happy life. After years of consistent daily exercise and healthy eating, Emily decided to use her experience and become a fitness instructor. She began by completing her first certification through the World Paddle Association and began teaching stand up paddle board fitness classes and lessons around the Baltimore – Annapolis area. Last year Emily decided to begin teaching classes on land as well and has since taught boot camp, boxing, kickboxing, TRX, kettlebell and metabolic conditioning classes. In addition, Emily also holds her personal training certification as a National Strength and Conditioning Certified Personal Trainer.  Emily is passionate about training functionally and reducing the risk of injury, and believes that fitness and healthy living should be sustainable and fun.
