Growing up, I had always been involved in high-energy, competitive sports and loved pushing myself in the gym with my team. After high school, I struggled to find gym and community that kept me motivated. Shortly after graduation, I was involved in a near-fatal car accident which left my neck, shoulder, and arm in need of serious rehabilitation. I turned to boxing at gym near my hometown as a way to cope with the accident and to rebuild my strength to where it was. I immediately fell in love with the intensity of the sport and the way it drastically it improved my mental and physical health so quickly. I found kicked up when I moved to Annapolis this year and have found more motivation than ever among these talented trainers. The fitness challenges, classes, and community here at KU are among the best I’ve seen at any gym I’ve been involved in. I’m so grateful for the constant inspiration and sense of community that I find here and couldn’t be happier to be apart of the team.
